Biology, transferred to SDSU

The support was awesome, bro. I'm so grateful. Wouldn't have landed at SDSU without you.

Business, transferred to SDSU

Jessica M.

It took two colleges and five years to transfer. It wasn't until I got to Grossmont that I got the support I needed.

Sociology, transferred to Cal State San Marcos

Sarah S.

Ava helped me apply, helped me figure out financial aid and introduced me to Marissa at ILS.

Business, transferred to SDSU

Hector L.

I like the whole program. The Midweeks, the counseling. They made my anxiety go away. Well, not go away, but I feel it less.

How to Pick the Right College

A Mostly Unbiased Guide

The college with the most "yes" answers wins

Do they have your major?

Can you get housing within, say, 21 miles?

Can you get money for books and life totaling into the hundreds of dollars every semester you're enrolled in courses?

Can you get a Target card for each of the three academic counseling appointments per semester?

Can you get grocery store cards to help ensure you have food at home because, well, you've grown rather fond of eating?

Can you get bus and trolley support or gas cards to help save you money?

Can you get support for prescription glasses, so you can read the white board from the back of the room and textbooks and screens up close?

Can you get a food voucher good for the college food court for every day you have a class on campus?

Can you get support to pay for prescription and over-the-counter medications at CVS?

Can you get a financial aid specialist dedicated to your success to help ensure you get your money on time and that your concerns are resolved and your questions answered?

Can you get emergency grant money because cars break, teeth ache, apartment managers demand hefty deposits , and, well, you get the idea?

Can you meet with academic counselors who have been supporting foster youth in college since before you were in kindergarten? So you can get very precise and experienced help with whatever you need?
